Elizabeth Edwards
Dedicated to strengthening America’s communities, Elizabeth Edwards works with causes that help provide equal opportunities for all school children. In 1996, Mrs. Edwards co-established the Wade Edwards Foundation and helped build a free computer lab - the Wade Edwards Learning Lab - for high school students in Raleigh. The Wade Edwards Foundation runs a statewide short fiction contest for North Carolina’s high school juniors, awarding $10,000 a year in scholarships and grants to high school English programs. Mrs. Edwards remains active with the Parent Teacher Associations at her children’s schools, as well as with a variety of charitable efforts, including fundraising for the March of Dimes benefit. Mrs. Edwards shares her experiences on the campaign trail in her memoir, “Saving Graces: Finding Solace and Strength from Friends and Strangers.”
